PELRA "Returning to Base: Managing and Supporting Veterans and Other Members of the U.S. Armed Forces"

  • 12 May 2017
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Walnut Creek - Council Chamber, 1666 N Main St., Walnut Creek, CA 94596

Public Employer Labor Relations Association of California (PELRA) presents "Returning to Base: Managing and Supporting Veterans and Other Members of the U.S. Armed Forces".

This is a free event for anyone interested in learning more about this working with veterans and learning more about the PELRAC organization.

As long as there is a need for the U.S. Armed Forces, there will also be a need to manage and support public employees who are returning from or heading out to military duty.

This workshop offers very practical guidance on how to deal with the most common issues involving veterans, and active and reserve personnel, with respect to not only leave policies, but also reasonable accommodation and protected classes under state and federal law.

Participants will also receive a concise written summary of the most relevant legal standards and a straightforward discussion of how to manage, for example, the public works employee being called to reservist training, the safety officer suffering from PTSD, or the recent veteran applying for a job.

Registration is closed, however, walk-ins are welcomed!
